Services

Our therapists are uniquely trained to support children in learning to use the toilet, guide in remediation of constipation and issues related to urine and/or bowel accidents, self-regulation, and self-help skills.

Our practice combines the OT skills of analyzing the task and environment, musculoskeletal evaluation and treatment, and teaching strategies to develop a plan that matches your child’s conditions and needs.

  • We specialize in toilet training people ages 3-16 with mild to severe needs.

  • We have advanced training in pelvic floor evaluation and treatment and the remediation of constipation, sensory processing, and behavior modification.

  • We all love children and are passionate about this very sensitive area of practice

Toilet Training

We understand how difficult it can be to toilet train a child, even if you have toilet trained other children with no problem. We uniquely use a combination of sensory and motor strategies with teaching techniques to provide the most comfortable experience possible for you and your child. The beauty is we teach you the strategies which means you are not dependent on us being there to continue the work and speed progress toward the goal: A toilet trained child who is not dependent on you to tell them when to go.

The work may be hard but the results are well worth it.

Constipation

The pain and sadness and perhaps frustration constipation can cause is unbelievable unless you have been through it with your child. Let us help you navigate the tools available to help (diet, exercise, fluids, supplements or medication) and teach you strategies for supporting the processing of going poo with a body that is primed to go.

Minimizing Temper Tantrums

Some children, for a variety of reasons, are prone to emotional outbursts when the adults in their life are doing the best they can to instruct them in the things they need to know to grow up. We believe it does “take a village” to raise a child and want to be a part of your team. We are occupational therapists who are trained in social emotional and psychiatric interventions and we have additional training in areas such as Trauma Informed Practices and behavior modification.

Self Help Skills

The same effective strategies that we use for toilet training and/or behavioral issues are also used to teach children developmental self help skills and to perform everyday routines more independently. This includes age level independence with morning and nighttime routines, skill development for dressing, brushing teeth, showering, school work completion, and almost anything else you and your child are struggling with.
